Supporting Local Charity Craft Creators

19 September 2022

Community Bank Samford has granted Samford Lions Charity Craft Creators $500 during the recent grant round to purchase wool to knit and crochet lap rugs, beanies, and scarves for the homeless and underprivileged.

The CCC Project has been operating since 2011. It is run by volunteers who have made items worth many tens of thousands of dollars to be donated to victims and children of domestic violence, foster children, and homeless and underprivileged people.

Carmel is the facilitator of the project and has been a member of the Lions Club of Samford for 18 years.

Members of the CCC project believe that while fundraising to donate money to a charity organisation is worthwhile, donating handmade items is more personal and gives the underprivileged a sense that someone cares.

The Samford Lions Charity Craft Creators meet in Samford twice a month and enjoy a day of sewing, knitting, and crafting as well as enjoying a chat and a cuppa. Some members even take away ‘homework’ to fill in their spare time between meetings.
