Samford Riding For The Disabled’s volunteer recruitment drive is continuing with three induction sessions scheduled next month.

Anyone interested in becoming an RDA volunteer can attend any of the sessions on April 18 (Wednesday 12.30 to 2.30pm), 20 (Friday 1 to 4pm) and 21 (Saturday 2 to 5pm). You only need to attend one session.

Samford RDA relies on volunteers (14 years and older) to run riding lessons at our covered arena at Samford Showgrounds. We work with children and adults with a disability, assisting them to improve balance, coordination and core body strength. Volunteers also support grounds and centre maintenance, and help care for the RDA horses.

If you have no or limited horse handling or riding experience, don’t worry – this is not a requirement. We also don’t expect volunteers to commit to a set number of hours every week. You can give as little or as much time as you wish. However, inductions are required to volunteer in classes or to assist with horses, and all participants must wear closed-in shoes for safety purposes.

For more information about becoming a volunteer, call Mel on 0438 128 790.
