Community Programs from a Bank That Cares

Our Community Programs

The Community Bank Brendale and Samford’s Community Programs are another demonstration of our commitment and care about the health, safety and wellbeing of our community.

Our three key community programs are:

Network Medical alerts

Medi Alert Program

Working with the Samford Support Network, the Community Bank Samford and Brendale recognise that Samford has not an insignificant ageing population living in the area.

With this in mind, we want to help some of the area’s long-term residents still living in the family home to feel less isolated and more secure in the knowledge that if there is a medical issue, help is on the way.

As part of the #Bendigo4Life grants program, the Community Banks Brendale and Samford have funded the purchase of 34 medical alerts since 2017 to keep more people in their homes with the peace of mind of medical supervision.

Defibrillator Program

Another lifesaving program supported by Community Banks Samford and Brendale is the Defibrillator Program.

This program commenced in 2017 and is all about increasing the number of automatic external defibrillators (AED) located in public places within our area, that are readily accessible to the community.

These little unassuming literal lifesavers are fully automatic and are relatively easy to use. The machine (once placed on the person suffering suspected heart issues) is able to measure the heart rate of the person and determine if a shock is needed.

Currently, there are seven located across the Pine Rivers Community Finance Ltd area, with the programme expected to continue delivering these AEDs as appropriate sites are identified.

Defensive Driving Course

Defensive Driving Course

Another program as part of the #Bendigo4life program is the Defensive Driving Course. The Community Bank Brendale and Samford organises a day of classroom defensive driving knowledge and practical driving experience at the famous Lakeside Park raceway and driver training facility at Kurwongbah.

Our Defensive Driving program commenced in 2012 and has been very popular with teenagers, learners, and P-Platers.

The Community Bank Brendale and Samford are proud supporters of this program that not only raises more awareness about road safety but also reinforces police messaging around saving more young lives on our roads.

Parents also appreciate the course because they allow young drivers to gain sound driving skills plus some confidence behind the wheel in a controlled environment.

The #BENDIGO4LIFE program usually runs in the first weeks of each December.

2021 Defensive Driving Program

The 2021 Defensive Driving Course will be held on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
